Place of Birth Generational Chart

The past few days family history researchers from all regions have been submitting a colored generational chart showing the birth place of their ancestors. With each location assigned a different color.

This fun activity was initially the brain-child of research J. Paul Hawthorne on a Facebook post. I followed J. Paul's blank chart from this link http://bit.ly/1RjfZEZ.

I actually found out about this challenge when fellow blogger Randy Seaver's posted his "Saturday Night Genealogy Fun." http://www.geneamusings.com/2016_03_20_archive.html. Through Randy's suggestion we were to share an ancestral birthplace chart on our blog.

I thought it would be of interest to look at both mine and my cousin's. Ed Ostrom's birthplace chart is much more organized than mine.  My birthplace chart tends to suggest I am a "Heinz 57-variety." Well, not quite that extreme, but I did count 15 different colors; compared to Ed's five!

Here's mine, a five generation chart:

Here is Ed's, also a 5-generation chart:

It was a fun work assignment to participate in and does tell a little about us and demonstrates how cousins can be very different.
