Amanuensis Monday - Marriage Certificate for Warren Haner and Anna Ostrom

Dear FOLKS,

Here it is the beginning of a new work week for many people and I want to start this week off by transcribing a document that is important to my family research.
Amanuensis Monday is a weekly blog theme that was started by John Newmark, the author of TransylvanianDutch blog. John defines Amanuensis as "A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another." I also appreciate the good work and format examples of San Diego genealogist Randy Seaver of the blog Genea-musings. Thanks guys.
Transcribing helps me to learn what a document contains. I have learned over time that I have a tendency to "skim" over an item; a bad trait for a researcher who needs to learn even the smallest details documented records contain. Transcribing helps me to slow down and "smell the roses."
The document I am transcribing today is the Certificate of Marriage for Warren Warner Haner (1873-1938) and Anna Ostrom (1877-1959). On this document Anna's name is written incorrectly as "Annie Olstrom." Within the Minnesota statewide marriage index Anna's surname is entered correctly so there is a possibility that on the record the state used for the index her name is correct. I have placed an order for that record. It should arrive soon; then we will see and I can report then what I have found.

I am not sure where this copy came from.  I have no notes that tell me who gave it to me. I was actually surprised recently when I came across this certificate. I am sure one of my generous research buddies gave it to me, but I can't remember who. It is with their help I am able to bring it to you now. So let me say to that kind person, "Thank you."

This is a form filled out primarily by handwritten information. I will present the handwritten information in bold-italics to help provide clarity. Fields that are left blank on the original will also be left blank on the transcription. My comments will show with square brackets [ ].

1.) Certificate of Marriage, digitized photocopy of original document from unidentified source. Certificate naming Warren Warner Haner and Annie Olstrom, 10 February 1897.

I do not recognize the name of the witnesses M.J. Jacobsen and Enola Horsman; I am assuming they were friends. I am also not sure why the marrying couple decided to travel to Wheaton, Minnesota unless that was the nearest justice of the peace. Wheaton is near the Minnesota and South Dakota state line, approximately 10 miles from where the Ostroms had their South Dakota homestead.

I hope you enjoyed today's post and that your week has started off well. Thank you for joining me here.
