Amanuensis Monday - Death Certificate for Anna O. [Stavaas] Brekke (1853-1931)

Dear FOLKS,

Today's Amanuensis project is to transcribe the death certificate of  Anna O. Stavaas Brekke (1853-1931). One of cousin Ed's Norwegian born great-grandmother. Anna Stavaas Brekke was Ed's father's mother's mother, who arrived in the U.S. after a ocean voyage from Bergen Norway in 1872. We have been learning Anna's story on the recently published Ed's Day Wednesday articles. It is important to also include her death certificate.

As other death certificates are, this is a fill-in-the-form document. Attempting to clarify the transcription I will place the handwritten portions in bold, italicized, RED font. Any of my comments are placed in square brackets [ ].

Amanuensis Monday is a weekly blog theme that was started by John Newmark, the author of TransylvanianDutch blog. John defines Amanuensis as "A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another." I also appreciate the good work and format examples of San Diego genealogist Randy Seaver of the blog Genea-musings. Thanks guys.

Transcribing helps me to learn what a document contains. I have learned over time that I have a tendency to "skim" over an item; a bad trait for a researcher who needs to learn even the smallest details documented records contain. Transcribing helps me to slow down and "smell the daffodils," [at this time of year :-) ] and to capture all aspects of the paper in hand. It also gives me a better opportunity to share the document with you.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this document and that you have a good week. Thank you for joining me here and I appreciate that you stopped by.
