Today's Amanuensis Monday transcription project for today is an easy one to prepare. I know that this time of the year you are probably as busy as I have recently been. So decided to do something simple for all of us. Eugene John Brown was my mother's father, my Grandpa Brown, as I called him. Gene as he was known by many, while some called him "Brownie," was a kind, honest and giving man and I am pleased to share with you this about him.
I attended Eugene's funeral and this card was given to everyone who was there. His funeral was held in the chapel that is part of the Greenwod Memorial Park Funeral Home in Renton, Washtington.

For this image, I used two cards, one showing the outside, the other showing the inside. This allowed me to capture the front page and the inside. I scanned both at the same time.

The Twenty-Third Psalm
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the
paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of
Yea, though I walk through the valley of
the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; Thy rod and
thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
of mine enemies: thou anointest my head
with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life: and I will
dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The honorary casket bearers included Eugene's grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
I wasn't able to discover any additional information regarding Robert Weigel, the officiating pastor.
Amanuensis Monday is a weekly blog theme that was started by John Newmark, the author of TransylvanianDutch blog. John defines Amanuensis as "A person employed to write what another dictates or to copy what has been written by another." I also appreciate the good work and format examples of San Diego genealogist Randy Seaver of the blog Genea-musings. Thanks guys.
Transcribing helps me to learn what a document contains. I have learned over time that I have a tendency to "skim" over an item; a bad trait for a researcher who needs to learn even the smallest details documented records contain. Transcribing helps me to slow down; to capture all aspects of the paper in hand. It also gives me a better opportunity to share the document with you.
Thank you for stopping by today and letting me share this with you. I also hope that your week has had a good start. And as always, I hope you have a great day.
