Dear FOLKS,On Wednesdays I continue to share the stories and family research provided by my late cousin Edwin J. Ostrom. Last week we concluded the life story and anecdotes of Anna Tomina Brekke, Ed's paternal grandmother. We will now focus on the next person on Ed's genealogy Names List. This week I will introduce to you our first member of Ed's maternal ancestors. Reinert Immanuel Emerson (1870-1950) is our next person in Generation #3 (Grandparents) in cousin Ed's genealogy. Person notes and anecdotes in Ed' family tree for Reinert Emerson: had a car, an Overland, but some have said he never drove. He frequently gave compliments. Always predicting a revolution. He may have been a carpenter and worked with concrete from what some grandchildren can remember.
In 1948, one grandson remembers that he noticed Reinert's hands trembled uncontrollably. Made him wonder if his granddad had Parkinson's disease like his granddad's brother Chris?
One granddaughter recollected that, "I would suppose all of our family drank from saucer. I remember mostly Grampa Emerson. Perhaps because filled cup to overflowing when cream was added?"
This same granddaughter remembered, "Mother (Alice) told me that Grandpa Emerson (Reinert) knitted socks during the war [first world war, 2nd world war, or both?]."
